Surfing '24: THE EDDIE Big Wave 2024 'Super Bowl of Surfing'
December 22, 2024, Waimea Bay, Haleiwa, Oahu, Hawaii, USA: Australian professional surfer LAURA ENEVER, 33, just getting out of water aided by Hawaiian lifeguard. Enever just suffered from a serious fin chop. Guinness World Record surfer sent to the hospital after taking a fin to the leg during the prestigious 2024 Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational. “A scary situation as we thought my main artery had been damaged. I was rushed to hospital for surgery where I found out I was millimeters away. I was crushed my day ended the way it did but I mostly feel lucky & thankful it wasn’t worse and I’m just soooo grateful to everyone who helped me on the beach and in the hospital. It truly was the BEST morning of my life being a part of the EDDIE & I can’t wait to watch the replay of the day and watch everyone send it. Mostly rattled I had to get my Eddie rashie cut off.' The year at this same event, she made it to the Guinness World Record by surfing the 'Largest Wave Surfed Paddle-In (female)'. The size of the record-breaking wave? 43.6 feet. Enever was the ASP Women's World Junior Champion in 2009. She made her professional debut in 2011. As of March 2015, Enever competes at the highest level of professional surfing, touring with the World Surf League. History was made again this year, today as Salt + Air Studios launched their groundbreaking ocean sports live-streaming channel, Rogue.TV, with the most-watched surf event ever recorded. L. McNamara claimed victory at the legendary Rip Curl Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational, solidifying an unforgettable debut for this exciting new venture. McNamara's makes it the third time in a row, that an Oahu North Shore surfer has won, named after the original North Shore lifeguard Eddie Aikau. Another North Shore lifeguard, L.
